I think up until the point when we started in the business, which was in the early &#39;70s, most of the humor was political. The smart humor was political satire.

On with you, horse-taming Trojans! Never give Greeks best in your will to fight! They are not made of stone or iron. Their flesh can't keep out penetrating spears when they are hit.

I remember certain people in the audience laughing and I wanted to ask: &#39;What are you laughing at? This isn&#39;t funny.&#39; Now I realize that laughter can come from insecurity. They don&#39;t know how they should be feeling.

It is very hard to separate one&#39;s self from a character. Sometimes the people closest to me have to be very understanding.
