I often observe the absurdity of dreams, but never dream of the absurdity of my waking thoughts.

Normally, a view of the world is nothing more than a set of beliefs, a way to freeze the world in our minds. But this can never match Reality, simply because the world isn’t frozen. Nevertheless we carry on as though the way we’ve frozen it in our minds is the way it actually is.

She had discovered long ago that you could use a computer without understanding how it worked. Just as you could use an automobile, vacuum cleaner - or your own brain.

It was a sad place, especially after a day at the Circle, where all was made with care and love and the gift of a good eye.
