Years ago I had a house in Sussex, it was like Arcadia, with an old Victorian bridge, a pond and the Downs.

My father was unemployed and I was the eldest of seven children. We were very poor. And when you ask how did we support ourselves, the only funding that we had was unemployment payments.

That was smart, that was engineering: never reinvent something that you can buy down the street.

The real wealth of a planet is in its landscape, how we take part in that basic source of civilization- agriculture.
